Santa Ornament

How about something different than a card for a change. I have been doing some ornaments or you can also use them as a gift tag. Which ever you do they go quickly.

For this ornament I used scalloped circle punches. On the white one I stamped Santa from the retired Old Fashioned Christmas stamp set. The Santa face in this one make perfect for this ornament. I stamped him in black and colored him in with chalks. This has a Santa on both sides so when he is on the tree he is seen on both sides. You can whip these up so quickly and have something cute to adorn your tree or packages. Punch a hole in the top making sure that your Santa's are upright and close to the same. Add some cord for you hanger. I am thinking to add some more to the ornament is to add some white gel pen dots to each of the scallops on the red piece.

Gazing Snowmen

I made this card the other night. I got the idea from a friend Shelly Anderson, thanks Shelly. She had sent me a card about a year ago already. Wow, time flies! Anyway, I loved it and had to try my hand at it. I used Night of Navy card stock and stamped craft white snowflakes. Then I tore some water color paper so my snowmen had texture and placed them in the corners on the bottom of the card. I tore out some orange for the noses and used a black marker for the eyes. Then I stamped brrr... in light blue on white and layered that on Bashful blue and layered this on the card. This card is so easy you really need to try it. The best part of all is it uses up those small scraps we have. So dig in those scrap piles and make yourself one or a bunch for your Christmas Cards this year.

Going Kimono

I also got this card in the shape swap, this one is made by Elizabeth Kratzer. It is so cute. I have never made one of these before and will be making one soon. I have scanned the front and back for you to see. She did an awesome job on this one. The white on the leaves is embossed and really adds to the design. Love the ribbon. Think I might just have to order some of that soon.

Polar Surfing

I created this sketch myself. Aren't you all so proud? LOL I thought it would make a neat design to work with. I didn't draw one out just created the card so you will have to go by the picture of the card to get the idea.

I used again Polar Express and used markers to color him. I used retired snowflake paper from SU. I love this paper and wish I had more. To bad they retired it. The basic card is done on lt. blue textured paper and you can't see it in the scan but it has snowflakes stamped on it with white craft ink. For the circles I used the coluzzle and used the second to last line for the snowflake and for the black I used the last line.

Last of the Swap

Hope you are all enjoying these. This one is flying high! Ginny Smith made this really neat kite card. The monkey is having fun flying around. He can see the world from way up high. Ginny used the slot punch to make the scalloped circle the monkey is on. Here you see the kite closed. You unwrap the kite string and inside is a surprise. This is such a cute idea, I am sure I will be making these for Birthday cards for the kids. What kid wouldn't like this as a card?

Instead of Thanks a bunch put in Happy Birthday. I love that monkey stamp and now have another reason to use it. Thanks Ginny for joining the swap and for all you girls letting me post them on my blog to share for all to see.

Santa is ready for the winter with these long johns. Bright red and ready to be worn. Aren't they just the cutest? I am going to be making some of these. Now Joyce Pacer made these long johns for the swap. I will show front and back cause the back is decorated to. And it holds money! Who wouldn't love a money card like this? I sure would. Notice on the back the flap that says Merry Christmas, to cute! The money goes inside in a slit she made and out the back flap. Thanks for hosting the swap Joyce and the awesome card.

Next we have a Christmas Bird house card made by Cheryl Parker. This bird house is so cute all decked out for the holidays. What bird wouldn't want to make this his home for the winter? She has punched flowers around the opening that intertwine together. And added a cute bow. This home is ready for the next renter to move right in. Thanks for joining the swap Cheryl this was so much fun and such great cards.

Shaped Card Swap

As promised. Here is two cards I got in the swap. First one is from Judy Oswald. This is so darn cute. The cat on the broom comes off the card and is a magnet. The card opens up and has stamped inside "A Haunting Halloween" near the spider. With stars above. How cute! Thanks for joining the swap Judy and the wonderful card.

Next is a baby card that Carolyn Sharkas made. Isn't this cute? I just love the ruffle around the bib. Lots of folding on that ruffle. But it sure made the card. She did a great job. Again, thanks for joining the swap Carolyn and the card.

If you ever get a chance to join a swap do so as you get such great ideas back. I don't think I have ever been disappointed in a swap yet.

Purse Post It Note Holder

I made this for a friend. Well I really made two of them both as Thank yous. I sure hope they like them.

Cut card stock at 3 1/2 x 11 and score at 5 1/2 and then 1/2 inch from that on both sides. This makes so it will be mountain and valley folds so that the post it paper fits inside with out it looking bulky. Stamp your card stock with snowflakes. I did the inside and outside with the same snowflakes. Punch with the word punch at the top for a handle. Put a ribbon across the middle and stamp your image on ww card stock, color in and layer on a coordinating color. Mount this to post it note cover. And your done! Now wasn't that an easy project to make? Optional: I added Crystal Effects to the scarf, skates and hot choc and heart on the cup to make them stand out more from the bear. I love the effect this give the bears.

I wasn't going to show both cause one is going to a friend who comes to my blog and don't want to spoil the surprise but she won't know who she is right? LOL

These would make cute little stocking stuffer or stamp camp project.

Water Problems

Sorry bloggers, I didn't get to get anything at all done today. We worked out in the yard getting ornaments put away and cleaning up the yard. Then we started on getting the sewer system all covered up so we don't freeze up in the wonderful Minnesota weather we get. Still have a long ways to go we ran out of leaves so might have to go and raid some yards. We will have half way to go. I sure hope the neighbors are willing to share instead of burning them.
Then I had laundry to get caught up on and boy does that pile up fast with 5 people in the house on a daily bases. So was doing that and the water stopped. Yup no running water coming from anywhere. Pure Panic sets in and you think what do I do. Well dh goes down and checks it out and can't for the life of him figure it out. We thought that the well run dry but it didn't. Called my trusty BIL who does all this kind of stuff and he come over with some jugs of water to prime it thinking that was the problem. Well he get down there in the basement and we have no pressure. You see a week ago this same thing happened and dh went down and got scalding hot water all over his wrist and got burned pretty good. So dh lowered the pressure on it and forgot about it. That is the problem we didn't' have enough water pressure building to pump out the water. So finally we have that fixed and the kids can shower. LOL, oh the fun! Now the kids are in bed, Mom is tired and Dad crashed as soon as the water was fixed. So needless to say I got no stamping fun done.
So bear with me and hopefully I will have something fun to look and and hopefully help you be creative. Really sorry I messed this up. So between cleaning house tomorrow and stamping I will have something worth wild to see.

Snowflake Gazers

This reminds me so much of the Coke commercial that used to be on tv. Any of you remember this? I again used a sketch by Maria you can find her blog on long the side of my blog here. I really liked how this one turned out. They look so cold with the pink cheeks. I love bears. I am sure you can tell that by the recent posts. You will be seeing lots of bears.

I used for the main card NQN and cut the snowflake piece 2 1/2 inches by 3 inches. Stamped the snowflakes in white craft ink. The red designer paper is from a booklet from Joanne's. Still using that stuff up. I have a huge book of all kinds of designs in that booklet. The white background was done with the snowflake cuttlebug folder. I stamped and cut out the bears and mounted them with glue dots that are raised. I cut some ribbon and attached it to the NQN snowflake piece and punched a hole for the snowflake brad, then mounted this to the red and white background. Then mounted it all on the NQN base. I hope you enjoy my card.

Not sure how many of you are getting your Christmas Cards started but this should give you some ideas on making them and designing your cards. I will be sharing sketches and cards that I am making for Christmas. I am doing several different ones this year and using several different sketches. So get inspired and get those stamps out and start your Christmas Cards, as it is never to early to start them.
