Minnesota Poem

My BIL sent this to me and I thought it describes MN winters so well. LOL, hope you enjoy it as much as I did. This would work on some of those snowy pages no matter what state you are in that gets snow and freezing temps. I am saving this to go into one of my scrapbooks. Thinking one of the kids making a snowman maybe or snow angels.

It's winter in Minnesota
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At twenty-five below.
Oh, how I love Minnesota
When the snow's up to your butt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around
I could never leave Minnesota
'Cause I'm frozen to the ground!

Valentine's Card TOTM Swap

Sorry everyone that visits, the migraine are still hanging in there. I know it is the weather we have been having in MN. Anyone else get migraines? Or an major headaches like that? I have 5 different kinds that I have been diagnosed with and none of them are any fun.

Anyway, I did get one card done but forgot to scan it in to share so will ask Lori when she gets it to get a photo so I can share it. . I belong to a group of MN stampers and we had a Theme of the month swap. I got a card from Lori and will that with you today. Lori did a great job. Thanks Lori Auge-O'Hara for the beautiful Valentine's card.

Crop-a-dile Big Bite

Besides being sick all weekend with a migraine, my nephew had emergancy surgery for his appendix. So needless to say my blog was ignored because we was both sick.
My best friend sent me up my B'day present early. Her dh was coming through town so she sent it with him for me to enjoy early. Haven't been able to play with it much beings I have been sick with the migraine but wanted to share what I got. Here is a video telling you what it is and how to use it.
I wanted one of these so bad cause I also do scrapbooks, but they will also work for altered work. It can punch through almost anything just like the original crop-a-dile. Last year my oldest son got me the original crop-a-dile and I love it. How lucky can one person get to have both now.

Blue & White Dahlia

My best friend in the cities wanted a Dahlia card. So today I sat down and made her one in blues as her favorite color is blue. Didn't have any pretty gemstone brads in blue so used a big silver brad which worked well with this one.

For supplies you need:

Designer paper of choice

Scalloped punch

Whisper White, Not Quiet Navy card stock

Little background stamp ( mine is little tiny butterflies) Retired SU

Not Quiet Navy Ink

Here once again is the directions for the Dahlia. These are so fun and easy to make. First one or two takes sometime until you get the folding technique down but other than that they go quickly.

Same directions as my Sassy Dahlia.

See it with the Heart

This is another SCS Sketch Challenge it is SC162. I got some designer 8.5x11 sheets from a friend who didn't want them anymore so I put one of those sheets to use. The stamp set I got a long time ago and decided it needed to be used again. Seemed perfect for this paper.
This one I used the following:
Stamp set: See with the Heart
CS: Whisper White, Brilliant Blue
Designer Paper Unknown where from
Ink Pad: Basic Black
Chalks

Cut the WW cs at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 fold in half to make card
Cut BB at 2 1/2 x 4 and a long strip at 1 1/2x 5 1/2
Designer Paper is cut at 2 1/4 x 3 3/4 and the long strip is 1 x 5 1/2 Layer these pieces together and put on WW main card as shown in sample.
Cut BB at3 x 3 1/4 and one WW at 2 1/2 x 2 3/4 Stamp image on WW, color in and mount to BB. Mount this to the card as shown in the sample.
Really quick and easy card to make.

Birds of Spring

I seen Beate's Sketch Challenge for the weekend and am really into the long card lately so I had to try it. I think it turned out rather well, even though things look crocked on it they are not. Just my scanner playing games on me. Also my friend Chrissy is having a challenge on her blog. So I combined the both of them in this card. So please check them both out.
Today was a beautiful day in Central MN, so this was the perfect day for making this card. I hope you like it as well as I do.
Supplies needed:
Bashful Blue cut at 8x9 and one cut at 1 1/2 x 6 1/4
Brilliant Blue cut at 2 1/2 x 8 1/2 and one cut at 1 3/4 x 6 1/2
Plaid Paper was cut at 2 1/4 x 8 1/4
Both SU Oval Punches punch one in Bashful Blue and one in Brilliant Blue
Brilliant Blue Ribbon
3 SU Bashful Blue Buttons
Any background stamp
Bashful Blue Ink Pad
Scalloped Square Punch
Glossy White Card Stock
Markers and Blender Pens
Seasonal Birds Stamp Set (Retired)

I stamped the main card 8 x 9 with a little butterfly background stamp in the Bashful Blue ink. Layered my plaid on my largest piece of Brilliant Blue.
Punched out my 3 glossy white scalloped squares and stamped them with the Seasonal Birds stamp set in Black. Colored them in using blender pens and markers.
Layered them on my Bashful Blue piece that is 1 1/2 x 6 1/4. Leave an area on the bottom for adding ribbon. Add your ribbon on the bottom of the piece. I used some glue to hold it in place on the back so it was easier to tie. On the ribbon after I got my knot tied I weaved on the oval punches with the saying on it to the ribbon. Then finished my bow.
Now with the Brilliant Blue piece that is 1 3/4 x 6 1/2. Add to the main card. Add buttons and your done.
With the larger Brilliant Blue piece add the plaid paper. Layer this one the main card. Then layer the Imaged piece on the card follow the sketch. Then add your buttons.
And your card is done.

Spring has Sprung

How about another long card. These fit in the business envelope. I get kind of sick of always doing the same sized cards. I like something different once in awhile.
So for today's project you will need the following:
Seasonal Birds Stamp set (Retired)
Piece of designed paper this one is cut at 2 1/2 x 9"
Pixie Pink, Old Olive & Whisper White Card stock
Pixie Pink cut at 8 x 9"
Old Olive cut at 3 x 9"
Old Olive cut at 2 1/4 x 2 1/4"
Corner rounder Punch
Scalloped Circle Punch
Basic Black Ink
Pastels for coloring
Mauve Mist Ribbon (Retired)
Craft White Ink
Dot background stamp The sketch is one of Maria Bell's. It is an older one so not sure it is on her blog anymore but here is the link to her blog.
Fold the PP in half so it measures 4x9, stamp with the dots background stamp in White Craft Ink.
With the Old Olive piece 3x9, take the corner rounder, take off the guide and punch the edge of the card stock along the long end. This will give the scallops.
Lay your printed paper on this.
Cut little cuts in the Old Olive 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 piece for the ribbon to go through. Weave your ribbon through the cuts and tape down. Add this to the card.
With the WW scalloped Circle piece stamp image, color in and mount to the 2 1/4x 2 1/4 piece.

More Tea bag folding

I tried another card with the tea bag folding. This one is called the kite fold. I also printed off the tag bag paper from the website. You can find the directions here for the kite fold. The pattern paper I used is here.
I used the same sketch I did for the other tea bag folding. Really like this sketch.
Supplies used on this one is"
Pink Glossy card stock
Pretty in Pink card stock
Basic Black card stock
Printed tea bag folding paper
Black Grossgrain Ribbon
Big Silver Eyelet
Directions are the same as the other tea bag folding card I did.

SCS161 with Tea bag folding

I seen the sketch on SCS on Wed. and just had to do it. I had the picture in my head right away of what I wanted to do. I love the sketch challenges.
Here is my creation with the sketch.
Supplies:
Real Red, Basic Black CS
Cerise Designer Paper
Black Grossgrain Ribbon 1/4"
Red Gemstone Brad
Very Vanilla Craft Ink
Itty Bitty Background Stamp the dots one
1" circle punch

Main card done in Real Red it is 4 1/4x5 1/2
Stamped this with the Very Vanilla and the dots from Itty Bitty Background.
Cut Real Red strip at 1 1/2"x 5 1/2" also stamped that the same way as the main card. Then the Basic Black 1/4" bigger and attached the Real Red strip to the black. Set aside.
Cut Cerise DP at 4 14/16th x 5 1/2 Cut the Basic Black at 5x3 12/16th. Layer the Cerise DP to the Black and add to main card centering.
Wrap 1/4" wide ribbon to the narrow strip, tie on right hand side.
Next punch out 8 - 1" circles for the tea bag folded Dahlia. Again step by step directions for this is here. Once competed start adding your Dahlia to the left hand side if your card on the narrow strip. Poke a hole in the center of the Dahlia and added the Gemstone Brad. Attach the strip to the center of the card.
Just that simple. And it turns out so pretty.
