Lending a friend a hand

I think this stamp is so cute it is a Gruffies stamp and you can get one at Stampabilities. My friend LuJean got me this stamp and some Gamsol for blending. In these small towns you can't find any of that good stuff. Not many craft stores around here that are close. So thanks so much LuJean for the wonderful gift. I am really having fun with it.

I stamped my Gruffies image on Whisper White card stock and with colored pencils and gamsol, I colored in my image. The colors blend so well with this stuff. How did I ever get along without it before?? The colored pencils I used is Prang Professional. I think any of them would work though. Going to dig through the kids colored pencils and see if they have more colors. I have a limit of 24. I stamped a little saying in the upper right hand corner that says "you & me". Not sure if that shows or not.

Once the image was done I trimmed around it and added it to black to make it pop! Then I took some bashful blue and run that through my sizzix machine and used the Swiss Dots Embossing folder. Mounted all this to Whisper White card stock and my card was done.

Spring Planting

I was digging through some old stamps, non SU stamps and come across some Easter ones I thought I would play with. This one is so cute and they are ready for planting. Which I wish we could be doing right now. This stamp is from Uptown Rubber Stamps.

Supplies I used was:

Bunny Stamp from Uptown Rubber Stamps

Black Organdy Ribbon

Rectangle double punch (SU)

Bashful Blue, Whisper White and Black card stock

New Distressed Stripes Embossing Folder

Water color pencils and Gamsol

As you can see this is my first try at the gamsol for water-coloring. But, didn't do to bad for the first shot at it. On the scan it shows a little smudge in the upper left hand corner. Not sure where that came from but think it is my scanner again, must need cleaning.

The ribbon was done using the rectangle double punch from SU. Punch your holes and take a long piece of ribbon. Run it through from the front to the back so you have both pieces of ribbon in the inside. Double over on one side and run it through the hole, pull it through the opposite hole. Pull from back so you have your 1/2 bow in front. Do the same with the other side. Now you have your ends still in the back. So you need to run them through to the front again. Cross them and run them through on the opposite side like you did the bow on and pull tight. You now have a perfect bow in front. I hope my instructions make sense to you so you can do one. Good luck. Oh I did cut my ribbon even once I seen in the scan it was way off. LOL

Beate's Challenge WSC38

I made mine into a Easter card. Used retired designer paper and dug out some watercolor paper and Aqua Painter with some watercolor pencils and colored in my image. Not to bad for a first shot at that.

I am so ready for Spring, so these papers worked good for that they are nice and bright and cheerful.

Cut 2 designs of patterned paper at 1 7/8 x 2 1/2 you need 2 of each pattern.

Cut a layer for behind them ( I did black ) at 4 x 5 1/4, layer the designer paper on top as shown. Layer on White card stock.

Stamp image of choice on watercolor paper and with aqua painter and colored pencils color in image, trim and mount to a piece 1/4" larger mount to card and your done.

Really simple and cute card.

Sweet Gardenia

Kathie McGuire made a card similar to this one. I loved the layout of it and thought it would make a nice layout for a Sympathy Card. I don't like making Sympathy cards at all, so depressing, but a long time neighbor passed away and I needed a special card for the family.

This is how mine turned out. I changed the colors used, on mine I used bashful blue, whisper white and black. I also used heart brads to symbolize love and peace to symbolize she is at peace now and the peace of the flower.

This card also works for the hardware challenge that my friend Chrissy has going this week. I am late at working on my card for the challenge. Check out Chrissy's blog to take the challenge and a chance to win a great prize from her. If you do her challenge load it to your blog or SCS under CBC7 and then link back to Chrissy's blog under comments.

For this card I used the stamp Gardenia, it is retired from SU but such a pretty flower. I softened the flower with bashful blue chalk and blended to give it a softer look. I also used green chalks for the leaf and blended the two colors together.

My ribbon turned out cockeyed on the scan but I fixed that now. I also ran the smaller bashful blue piece through my sizzix with the dotted Swiss cuttlebug embossing folder.

Here comes Peter Cottontail

Hopping down the bunny trail. He hopped right into my Easter Basket. As you all I know I made Peter Cottontail with his little butt sticking out of the basket so had to do one with his face too. I have had so much fun working with punches and my embossing folders. Now in case you missed my other card with his butt sticking out here it is along with the directions for it.

Here Peter making his rounds from basket to basket. Watch out he might hit your basket next. He loves to throw out your Easter eggs!

Directions are pretty much the same as the last one. Except you make his face and paws hanging over the basket instead of him sneaking into the basket. Naughty little bunny really is having fun throwing out all those eggs. Think he might of ate the jelly beans too!

Supplies needed:

Giga Scalloped Circle Punch

1/2", 1/4" circle punches

small oval punch

1/4" square punch (for his teeth)

grass punch or you can cut your own.

Embossing folder

4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card front

His paws are done by cutting 2 - 1/2" circle punches and forming his little toes.

Cut two more of them and trim down for his cheeks, this was hard to do but just wing it and it they aren't round when you done no big deal, as long as they come close.

Punch 2 black eyes out of the 1/4" punch and do one in pretty in pink for his nose

Ears you need to punch two with the oval punch in white and two in pink. Trim the pink ones down for fit inside his ears.

Punch the Giga scalloped circle punch for the basket trim out the inside (see sample). Place bunny inside as show.

Punch out some eggs using the small oval punch. Trim to for eggs.

Punch out the grass and layer along the bottom of the card.

Run a piece of yoyo yellow through my sizzix with the cuttlebug folder for the background and layered it all on my card.

That's it real easy and fun to make.

I have been Blog RAK'd

I would like to Thank Karen for the really sweet card she sent me for a Blog RAK. I really needed a pick me up this weekend. Migraine for 2 days and just not feeling good so it come at a great time. So thanks so much Karen for thinking of me and picking up those goodies for me. I love them and will be using some of them shortly.

Here is my card from Karen, isn't it just the cutest? We have been having strong winds here to lately so Frosty might of lost his hat outside.

Sorry, nothing homemade today from me but you can make your own items from these links. I got a migraine in the middle of the night and have been sick all day so had no chance to play. None of them is stamping projects but still they are for Easter and lets face it not everything has to be stamped. Oh, my did I say that?!
