Origami Nesting Boxes

I was checking my emails and found this and thought many of you might like to make some boxes. I have made these before and they are wonderful for gift giving.
Martha Stewart website has the full directions for you. I love the dimensions for all the sizes of the boxes without having to figure that out myself.

A Hummingbird Morning Glory

I have got to have the prettiest Morning Glory stamps around. I love these. This one was a bit of a challenge but so fun to do. You know one of those stamps that has no colored image of it. Well once I got it done it seemed that it needed to be brightened up some. So I added sunlight to the whole card and it really made the hummingbird and Morning Glories pop.

Hope you enjoy today's project and get some inspiration from my creations. Hoping this brightens your Spring as well as it did mine. Gives you a warm feeling with the yellow glow.

Supplies needed for this project:
Gamsol

Crayola Colored Pencils & Q-tips

Whisper White, black and Lovely Lilac card stock

Stamp with black your image on the Whisper White card stock, color in with gamsol and colored pencils to what you like. In this picture the hummingbird has some green on him to but for some reason my scanner did not pick that up. When I was done I thought it had needed that light so I used Golden Rod for the Yellow sunlight effect.

Trim down and mount to black card stock.

My main card is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4, then mount the image with the black layer on that and you all finished with a really nice card.

Morning Soft

I love this stamp set, it is so pretty. Thanks to a good friend of mine for getting it for me. You rock! This is my first try with the morning glory's. And I am becoming very attached to my gamsol and colored pencils for coloring in my images. Time will come and I will get better at it like some on SCS I have seen using the same things.

Doesn't this make ya think Spring? I am so ready for Spring, last week we had snow in Central MN and this week we have more coming. I would so welcome the rain right now and the green grass. So in honor of Spring coming my Morning Glory card.

Supplies needed:

Morning Soft Stamp set

Beyond the Basics small flower one

Gamsol

Colored Pencils & Q-tips

Word Punch

Lavender Lace, Whisper White, Black and Lovely Lilac card stock

Black Stazon Ink

yellow brad

Basic card is

4 1/4 x 5 1/2, our normal size we do cards with. Stamp this with the small background stamp with the small flowers in Beyond the Basics set, with Black Stazon ink. Color in the flowers with colored pencils and the leaves in green.

Whisper White cut at 4 5/16 x 3 11/16. Stamp Morning Glory in Black Stazon. This works the best as the ink don't run when working with the gamsol. Color in image with colored pencils and gamsol. I used purple and green from Crayola Colored Pencils. And put a dash of yellow in the center. Set aside to dry and cut a piece of Lovely Lilac at 3 15/16 x 4 9/16. Mount the Morning Glory colored piece to this. With the word punch, punch a Lovely Lilac Piece fold in half and attach to bottom left side with a yellow brad.

Cut black card stock at 2 9/16 x 4 1/4, cut Lovely Lilac at 2 5/16. Mount in center or black and place in the middle of your stamped card. Lastly layer the Morning Glory piece over that.

Hope you enjoy today's project. I didn't have my cutter by me and had a ruler so went by the ruler for measurements. I hope that don't confuse anyone.

Happy Harmony Get Well

I need to make a few Get Well cards, I have a 2 cousins that is having heart surgery and an Aunt that is having back surgery. One was on Sat. and the other two is through the week.

I found this sketch on iheart2stamp. Angie did an awesome job on hers and really inspired me to do one also with the one she did. So here is my sample. I think this turned out so bright and cheerful.

Supplies Used:

2 sizes of scalloped punches ( blue and pink punches)

3 white oval eyelets and 3 white brads one inside the other

Tempting Turquoise, White, Black card stock

Designer paper (SU Retired)

Swiss Dots Embossing Folder

Happy Harmony Stamp Set

Garden Green, Tempting Turquoise Markers

Black Ink

Crop-a-dile

Emboss your white card stock with the Swiss dot embossing folder. Trim to 3 1/2 by 3 1/4, add black background that is cut at 3 3/4 x 3 1/2. Mount the white to the black.

With designer paper cut 2 pieces at 2 1/4 x 3 1/2, cut black at 2 1/2 x 3 3/4.

Cut Tempting Turquoise at 8 x 9. Fold in half so you have a 4 x 9 card. Mount pieces as shown on sample.

Measure and punch your 3 holes for eyelets. Set eyelets and add brads to center.

With black ink stamp verse. Mine says Praying for you.

Punch out with the blue scalloped circle a white piece of card stock and with the pink scalloped circle a black one.

With markers color in image of your stamp, huff and stamp on white card stock. Mount this piece to the black and the black centered on the upper half of the card.

Your done. Very simple and pretty card.

Easter Nugget & Kit Kat Box Tutorial

These are so darn cute. I was checking out some of the blogs I visit a lot and found some really cute Easter projects and beings Easter is just a few days away I thought some of you with small kids would enjoy doing these for you Easter baskets. This first one shows you how to make the little box for putting the Nuggets or Kit Kat's in. The next one will show you how to make a cute little bunny face for the top.

Cuttlebug Embossing 2 color effect

Check out this new technique to use with your cuttlebug folders. I love the effect of this and am going to be trying this soon here. In the mean time I wanted to share with those of you who have not seen it yet. This is a great tutorial and you can do it without any problems she does it so well step by step. Super easy and super turnout. This will work with any of the cuttlebug embossing folders. So have fun and give it a try.

This card would work for a boy or a girl. Not sure of the color combo I used yet but like how the bunny in the cradle turned out.

I used

Real Rust, Certainly Celery, Choc Chip and Whisper White card stock

Cuttlebug embossing folder

Versamark pad and choc chip ink

Colored pencils and Gamsol

Basic card size was used for this one. Layered the Really Rust embossed piece on the Whisper White. You can make the center piece pretty much any size you wish. Mine is 2 1/4 inches for the Certainly Celery and 2 1/2 for the Choc Chip it is layered on. Mount this to your card.

Stamp your image and cut out, layered this on Certainly Celery then onto Choc Chip. Mount this to main card and it is complete.

Very simple card to make. I am including the sketch also and am not sure who made up this sketch but if it was you please let me know so I can give proper credit.

I got a new van

Well new to me it is. It is a 1994 Ford Aerostar. A beautiful blue. Our other car is on it's last leg and with a family we need something bigger to hold the lot of us to get around. So far I am loving it. Don't have a lot of extras which is fine with me cause who uses all that anyhow? So that is what I was doing yesterday so I couldn't post. I was out shopping for a new car or van. May not be the best on gas right now but at least it will get us from place to place safely.

So here is a picture of my van.

Gamsol

Many of you asked me what Gamsol is. Well best way to explain it is that it is a thinner for painting. It works with paints, colored pencils and other things I am sure. But, I am using it for colored pencils.

It is odorless but still need some kind of ventilation or you can get a little loopy on it. Gave me a small headache without the room being vented. I love using this as it blends the colors so well for coloring in our images. You can see how it is used in these tutorials. She explains and shows you at the same time how to use it.
