AMYS19 Old Fashioned Lilac's

This is the challenge card we did yesterday while in chat. It is one of Amy's Sketches. I found this one harder to do. Not sure why but I did. I also ended up changing the direction of the sketch. Anyone can do the challenge. If you do you can load it to your blog or SCS using her code AMYRS19. Be sure and post to Amy's blog under the sketch so she knows.

So what I did was found some old fashioned designer paper, this is what a friend of mine sent to me Sharron. Thanks Sharron I am really getting the use out of those papers you sent me. Love them.

Supplies Needed:

Designer Paper of choice

Choc. Chip and Very Vanilla Card stock

Old Olive & Cranberry Crisp Ink

Blossoms Abound Stamp set

Directions:

Cut Very Vanilla card stock at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, fold in half for a card that measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

Cut designer paper at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and layer on main card. Cut two strips of designer paper at 1 1/2 x 3 1/2. Mount this to choc chip cut at 1 3/4 x 3 3/4. Both pieces should be the same.

Cut Very Vanilla at 1 7/8 x 3 1/2.

Stamp image on Very Vanilla. Beings this is a two step stamp set. With the first half of your lilac stamp in Cranberry Crisp ink and stamp off once on scrap paper, then stamp on card stock. Take the next half and stamp in ink and go directly to your card and line up images and stamp. This gives a two tone effect with one color of ink. With the leaves use Old Olive and stamp your main vein in that and onto you card. Lining up as best you can. Then with the leaves you stamp off once on a scrap paper then on to the card. Again the two done effect without using more ink colors. Mount this to a piece of choc. chip cut at 2 1/8 x 4.

Mount pieces as shown in the sample.

WSC41 Hedgehog Happiness

This sketch was fun to do. I started it last night and finished up today. Some friends and I am in a chat conference room and we are having fun stamping. We are challenging each other on sketches. I will share my other card that we did tomorrow.

Supplies needed:

Stamp of choice Mine the Hedgehog is from Penny Black Designs

Designer paper

Dotted Swiss Cuttlebug embossing folder

Gamsol and Colored Pencils

Q-tips

Rectangle Nest-abilities

Whisper White, Basic Black, Pixie Pink Card stock

White Gel Pen

Directions:

On small scrap of Whisper White card stock stamp image and color in with gamsol and colored pencils or your desired choice of coloring. Trim around.

With Black make a 4 1/4 x 51/2 card. With the extra left die cut out a rectangle for the Hedgehog. And do a larger one for you layering for the designer paper piece. I just cut the last line of scallops off.

With White Gel Pen go around scallops and put in little u's and dots all around. Do this on both pieces of the rectangles.

Pixie pink you need a 1/4 sheet of and you will trim 1/4 inch off the short side and off one of the long sides. Mount this to your basic black card base.

1/4 sheet of Whisper White that has been embossed with the Swiss Dot cuttlebug folder. Cut this 3/4 inch off one short end and one long end. Mount to the Pixie Pink.

Cut designer paper to fit inside your rectangle. Mount this to your largest piece of black rectangular piece and then add your ribbon to this. I used Pretty in Pink Ribbon grosgrain. Then add to the White Dotted piece as shown in the sample.

Mount your image to the smaller black rectangular and add to the right of your designer sheet piece. Partly on the designer paper and partly off.

This card was rather easy to do once I found what I wanted to work with.

Cured Yet? 2

I wanted to make a couple of these so I am ahead of the game, plus my Mom sometimes comes and raids my stash of cards and uses them too. This is the same sketch only different colors, but, I like this one too. I am really having fun with this set.

Tomorrow I will go to at least a different image. This one looks so much different than yesterdays to me that I wanted to share this one with you all too. I hope you like them both and are getting some ideas from me for you own stamping. This one to me looks like old fashioned wallpaper in the background. I love anything with an old fashioned look to it.

It has been really windy in Central MN today so I have stayed in as much as possible. What better time to stamp and enjoy yourself than with weather that you can't go out in. My stamping keeps me occupied and I always end up with something useful. Sometimes my house looks like a tornado hit it but, hey we can't have everything right?

You Cured Yet?

This is a big card. My piggy turned out big and wouldn't fit on a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card so I made a larger one. I got a good deal at the dollar store awhile ago on some blank Greeting Card with Matching Envelopes in a package. They sure come in handy today for this card. What it is, is a 8 1/2 x 11 card stock folded in half. But they are hard to find envelopes for so if you run into something like this at your dollar store pick it up cause you just never know when your going to need it. This is a sketch challenge from Julee over at Poetic Artistry's blog. Love this sketch for this card.This card will be going to my 87 yr. old Aunty that is having back surgery soon. Her and her late husband used to be pig farmers. And get this one of the Presidents of the good ole US of A used to come to the farm. How cool is that? Anyway, I thought she would love a pick me up after surgery so this is for her.

Supplies Needed:

Full Sheet of card stock folded in half for basic card.Designer Paper cut at 4 1/4 x 8 1/4. Use punch to punch the corners.

Whisper White to stamp image and to stamp Better Get Better.
Basic Black, Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue card stock.
White Gel Pen & Black Ribbon
Pop Dots
Gamsol and Colored Pencils
Q-Tips
Black Stazon Ink Pad
Coluzzle Oval one

Directions:

Stamp image with black stazon. Color in with colored pencils and gamsol. Cut around with the Coluzzle. Stamp on a small piece of Whisper White the verse, cut out. Take a piece of Black card stock and use your colluzle to cut out the outer trim for the pig. I just went one size larger for the trim. Mount your stamped, colored image on the black as best you can in the center. With White Gel Pen make dots and squiggly lines around the edges. Set aside. Cut a piece of Bashful Blue at 1 1/2 x 8 1/4. I stamped small dots on this with versamark. Cut Pretty in Pink at 1 3/4 x 8 1/4. Then the black cut at 2 1/4 x 8 1/4. Mount from blue down to the black. With White Gel Pen do the same as you did on the Oval for the pig. Add black ribbon to the center of this. Leaving the bow on the right side. Your little Get Well wording 2 1/8 by 2 is also mounted to black and cut at 2 1/4 x 2 3/8. You make this piece a little thicker so you can have it pushed under the upper layer ( see card for placement) Mount your designer paper to the main card. Add middle strip with the saying just under. Next add pop dots to the back of your image piece. I used one on the top and bottom and one on each side, then cut a strip to go in the center. Add to the left side of the card. Your card is now finished and ready to have someone enjoy. You can see my sample card here for placement on how to layer and add to the card. FREE Photoshop Web Version

My son sent this to me and I thought some of you might be interested in this if you don't have Photoshop. Great program to use. I hope someone can use this.
I have no projects for today, I have been busy doing laundry and working on some images. Just didn't get time to get anything else done. I stamped a bunch of images and figured it was a good time to color them in so I have some images ready for making cards.
I need to get done some cards this week so stay tune for tomorrow, I will share one of them.

Origami Nesting Boxes

I was checking my emails and found this and thought many of you might like to make some boxes. I have made these before and they are wonderful for gift giving.
Martha Stewart website has the full directions for you. I love the dimensions for all the sizes of the boxes without having to figure that out myself.

A Hummingbird Morning Glory

I have got to have the prettiest Morning Glory stamps around. I love these. This one was a bit of a challenge but so fun to do. You know one of those stamps that has no colored image of it. Well once I got it done it seemed that it needed to be brightened up some. So I added sunlight to the whole card and it really made the hummingbird and Morning Glories pop.

Hope you enjoy today's project and get some inspiration from my creations. Hoping this brightens your Spring as well as it did mine. Gives you a warm feeling with the yellow glow.

Supplies needed for this project:
Gamsol

Crayola Colored Pencils & Q-tips

Whisper White, black and Lovely Lilac card stock

Stamp with black your image on the Whisper White card stock, color in with gamsol and colored pencils to what you like. In this picture the hummingbird has some green on him to but for some reason my scanner did not pick that up. When I was done I thought it had needed that light so I used Golden Rod for the Yellow sunlight effect.

Trim down and mount to black card stock.

My main card is 4 1/4 x 4 1/4, then mount the image with the black layer on that and you all finished with a really nice card.

Morning Soft

I love this stamp set, it is so pretty. Thanks to a good friend of mine for getting it for me. You rock! This is my first try with the morning glory's. And I am becoming very attached to my gamsol and colored pencils for coloring in my images. Time will come and I will get better at it like some on SCS I have seen using the same things.

Doesn't this make ya think Spring? I am so ready for Spring, last week we had snow in Central MN and this week we have more coming. I would so welcome the rain right now and the green grass. So in honor of Spring coming my Morning Glory card.

Supplies needed:

Morning Soft Stamp set

Beyond the Basics small flower one

Gamsol

Colored Pencils & Q-tips

Word Punch

Lavender Lace, Whisper White, Black and Lovely Lilac card stock

Black Stazon Ink

yellow brad

Basic card is

4 1/4 x 5 1/2, our normal size we do cards with. Stamp this with the small background stamp with the small flowers in Beyond the Basics set, with Black Stazon ink. Color in the flowers with colored pencils and the leaves in green.

Whisper White cut at 4 5/16 x 3 11/16. Stamp Morning Glory in Black Stazon. This works the best as the ink don't run when working with the gamsol. Color in image with colored pencils and gamsol. I used purple and green from Crayola Colored Pencils. And put a dash of yellow in the center. Set aside to dry and cut a piece of Lovely Lilac at 3 15/16 x 4 9/16. Mount the Morning Glory colored piece to this. With the word punch, punch a Lovely Lilac Piece fold in half and attach to bottom left side with a yellow brad.

Cut black card stock at 2 9/16 x 4 1/4, cut Lovely Lilac at 2 5/16. Mount in center or black and place in the middle of your stamped card. Lastly layer the Morning Glory piece over that.

Hope you enjoy today's project. I didn't have my cutter by me and had a ruler so went by the ruler for measurements. I hope that don't confuse anyone.
