Sassy Dahlia

Wow, girls check out the Technique Challenge on SCS! I seen cards done and just had to check it out. This is so cool. I had a lot of fun with this one and the directions provided was fantastic.

What I did was cut my card at 5x10 and folded in half to have my main card be 5x5. I used Real Red card stock for that.

Then I got my scalloped punch out, mine measures 1 3/4" but I believe the SU scalloped punch is a little smaller. You can also use a circle punch but the bigger the better. But, then again you don't want it so big you can't fit it on the card. Anyway, I used the Sassy Designer Paper (retired) but still pretty.

Followed the directions. Glued this to a Whisper White piece of card stock that is 4 5/16 square. And my Dahlia was formed. Now the center I have a beautiful gem stone brad that I got from Karen Gibson when I won her blog candy a while ago. Then I layered on Basic Black card stock and punched with the retired Wrought Iron punch on the corners. Layered my WW piece in this and then onto the Real Red that I have for my main card. On my Real Red I stamped little butterflies in White Craft Ink.

Are these not the most prettiest flowers you have seen in a long time? I love how this turned out. Go check out the Technique Challenge this week and create. You won't be disappointed with the results.

Flower Basket

What an awesome flower basket this is huh! This basket measures 4 1/2 by 4 1/2 and I am not sure yet but think one of those Kleenex boxes would fit in this. I am debating what I am putting in mine yet. Any cleaver ideas? It does make a nice and pretty Spring Basket though. Sure beats the winter blues.

All I really did on this one is cut out the pattern. Which I am including. Remember you need to cut out two of these. And that the handle is approx. 3/4" wide by 11" long. Then I stamped my Stipple Rose (SU) on it and colored in with chalks. Took some Craft White Ink and stamped some tiny dots all over it. Kinda looks like Baby's Breath when you see it up close. But really added to the project.

I am not sure of the color as it is not SU card stock it is cheap stuff from Walmart. But looks real close to our new in color Soft Sky.

I used brads to add the handle to the basket. The basket also is stamped with the dots with the craft white ink. Here is a close up of one of the sides so you can see the dots up close and personal. I got the little flower brads that attach the handle from my friend Susan Cooper. Aren't they just to cute? Now if you can't bring up the template just right click on it and save to your computer then you can go in and print it off.

Not sure why but sometimes what I post on here for pictures or templates you can't always just click on it to come up to copy. So easiest was is to just right click and save to your computer then go in and print it out.

Easy Bookmarks

I have been making a bunch of bookmarks. Already gave some away to two of my sons teachers. I sure hope they enjoy them, they are so easy to use and you don't need to dog ear the corners of your pages using these handy little bookmarks. And being teachers I am sure they will get a great amount of use out of them.
I am also thinking these would make a great Valentine's gift for his classmates. So going to make a bunch more only ones with kid designs on them.

These are the 3 color ones I have done so far and I also did 2 styles of them. Not sure which I like the best but am really leaning on the rounded corner one. What do you think?

Ohh La La!

During the weekend SCS had a VSN (Virtual stamp night). I wasn't feeling to well so didn't do it. But tonight I started feeling better so made this card. It is for a friend of ours who celebrates a birthday in February. I don't know a man that wouldn't like a card like this. Better mention this is the front and back of the card.

On the scan the card looks dirty but it is not, it is my scanner, I guess it needs another cleaning. But, was just to lazy to do it tonight. So ignore those spots.

Pattern is here for you to use. I printed mine to fit the page as my printer program says and it printed out to be for a card 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

The tattoo on the buns is from a clip art I found on the net. This card is pretty simple to make, just follow the pattern. With the clip art, you copy to your computer, open this with your Microsoft word and load this image. Make sure when you go to print it out you print it in mirror image. Directions for doing this is also on my blog here. You print this on acetate. And you create your own rub-ons.

I was surfing the web last night when I couldn't sleep and I ran into this super easy flat bows tutorial. I love how she did this and just had to share with the rest of you. Friendship Star & Wild Duck

Last one for a while, I am going to work on more cards and scrap book pages. So stay tune for that. This one is called Friendship, but goes by many names again. Most quilt blocks have many names to them all they really did was change the color or add a piece to them. If I remember correctly this is also called the Whirly Gig.

Supplies needed"

1 1/2 square punch.

Whisper White and Pretty in Pink Card stock

Designer Paper of choice.

Mauve Mist Ink Pad

Small background stamp

Stamp your PIP card stock with MM. Then cut your card stock at 5x10 and fold in half to get your 5x5 card.

Cut the WW at 4 3/4 x 4 3/4

Punch out 6 PIP squares and 3 designer paper squares.

Cut 2 of the PIP in the diagonal and 2 of the designer paper on the diagonal.

Start in upper left hand corner of your WW. Going in approx. 1/8 inch from top and side, lay your first piece PIP square. Then going across lay 1/2 diagonal piece of PIP then the designer one and then a square again.

Follow the sample when this is completed just mount to your main card and your done.

I also did a smaller one of the Wild Duck only this one I made smaller using the 1 1/4 punch and your end up with a card that is 4 1/4x 4 1/4. Hope you enjoy this one too. Remember you can always do different sizes all you need is a different sized punch.

I hope you are all having a wonderful warm weekend. Here in Central MN it is really cold. Last night we had temps. at -20 and wind chills in the -40 below. It was so cold, today has not been much better. Suppose to warm up next week and I can't wait to see those temps in the teens or higher again.

Ribbon Star Quilt Card

Love this one too. I have been trying to keep with some of the same colors so I can give a gift of so many quilt cards to a package. So hence the reason for the same colors in some of these cards.

My friend Holly made one of these too and added some ribbon to hers. I will see if I can find hers and share it too. Or better yet maybe I can talk her into putting it on her blog.

Supplies Needed:

Designer Paper - Pretty in Pink Card stock

Mauve Mist Ink

Any Little background stamp to match designer paper.

1 1/4 punch

Cut 3 squares at 1 6/8, Cut two of them on the diagonal (PIP)

Punch 4 PIP 1 1/4 squares

Designer Paper Punch out 6 squares and cut all on the diagonal.

Cut PIP at 5x10 fold in half and get the 5x5 card
Stamp your PIP card stock with background stamp in Mauve Mist.

Start in top corner of 5x5 card with a PIP square, next a designer paper triangle, a PIP triangle, designer paper triangle, and another PIP square.

From here on out follow sample.

This one is real easy to make and turns out so pretty.
