Stamp Cleaner Recipe

I found this recipe a while back:
2 Tablespoons glycerin (in the Rx dept.)
8 oz. distilled water
1 teaspoon baby wash

Sassy Churn Dash Quilt Block

Glad so many of you are liking the square quilt cards. They are so fun and easy to do. My aunt which is also my godmother gave me my first quilt when I was like 10 or 12 years old. I still have it but it is really getting ragged. I have quit using it and put it in a safe place to keep. So she is my inspiration on making these cards also. I have a few of her patterns and will someday dig out my sewing machine and make another quilt.

This block is called the Churn Dash, but has many other names too. This is one of the first quilts I made. Which at that time I cut all the pieces by hand. I didn't know about the short cuts and all the goodies you can use for quilting. But, have since got those goodies for my quilting and now do it the easy way.

Ok so to make this one you will need the following:

Whisper White, Real Red card stock

Sassy Designer Paper which is now retired.

1 3/8 Punch

Snail adhesive

WW card stock cut at 5 x 10" fold in half to get a 5x5 card.

Cut your RR at 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 for your background (border)

Punch out 3 RR squares with the 1 3/8 punch and 6 of the Sassy Designer Paper.

With 2 of the RR cut in half at an angle.

With 2 of the Sassy Designer Paper cut them in half at an angle.

Now the easiest way to do this is to lay out your pattern like in the sample card. Then you will glue and move the pieces one by one onto the RR background (border).

Start at 1/8 in and 1/8 down from the corner with your sassy designer paper, then do the RR, and go across.

2nd row do the same only it is all 1 3/8 squares.

3rd row do that same as the first.

Layer the RR on the WW and your done.

Now wasn't that an easy card to make?

8 Pointed Star Quilt Block Card

I decided to make a quilt block card and had so much fun with it. I am also a quilter so doing a card this way was really fun. I am going to be making more in different designs. How many of you are quilters too?

On this sample I used the designer paper I had left over from yesterday's project. Very Vanilla Card stock and Mellow Moss and lastly Bravo Burgundy. Choc. Chip SU Marker.

You also need the 1 3/8 and 1 1/4 Punches

This card is 5x5 for the main card.

Punch out 5 Bravo Burgundy squares with the 1 3/8 punch

Punch out 2 Mellow Moss squares with the 1 1/4 punch, 3 of the designer paper with the same punch.

Layer one of the designer paper squares on the BB square. And do the same with 2 more. You will cut 2 of them on the diagonal.

Layer the MM on the BB on the remaining 2. Cut these in half on the diagonal also.

Layer these as shown in my sample.

Very Vanilla cut at 4 1/2 x 4 1/2.

1st Row: Now with one of your 2 pointed pieces mount that on the VV at 1 3/8 in from the top side.

2nd Row do the same only on the edge of the card stock. Then add your center piece and your other 2 pointed piece to that. See my sample for placement.

3rd row do the same as the 1st.

Cut MM at 4 3/4 x 4 3/4

Mount your VV Quilt Piece to the MM, being careful to get it even all around. Mount this to the BB main card.

With your Choc. Chip marker, add dashed lines for stitching on quilt pieces as show in the sample. I tried to do mine at about 1/8 inch.

And Walla you have a Quilt Card finished.

Old Fashion Lilac's

I am doing a sketch challenge from another blog Poetic Artistry . This is my card that I created for this challenge. I love how it turned out. I really love things that are old fashioned and this paper is old fashioned to me.

Designer Paper used is (retired) Recollections

Stamp Set used is Blossoms Abound, my good friend Susan gave me this set, Thank You Susan.

Card Stock is Very Vanilla, Mellow Moss, Bravo Burgundy and main card is Whisper White although you can't see it as it is covered with the designer paper.

Ink used is Bravo Burgundy, Old Olive

Choc. Chip Marker

Square Punches sizes 1 3/8, 1 1/4

I cut my designer paper to 4 1/4x 5 1/2 layered onto the White main card.

With the 1 3/8" Punch punch out 1 Burgundy pieces, with the 1 1/4 punch cut out 1 Mellow Moss pieces.

Layer these two pieces together Burgundy on bottom and Mellow Moss on top. Add stitching lines to the Mellow Moss with your Choc. Chip Marker.

With Burgundy cut a piece 2 3/4"x 2" and one cut at 2"x4".

With a small piece of designer paper cut 1 9/16 x 1 13/16

Layer this on the 2 3/4x 2 piece of Burgundy

Cut Very Vanilla Piece at 1 3/4 x 3 14/16. With Bravo Burgundy Ink pad and Blossoms Abound Lilac under piece stamp off once you have inked it then onto the Very Vanilla, this will give you a lighter color on the under part of the Lilac, next take the top part of the Lilac and stamp over the top of your lower part of your Lilac. This give it that two toned effect.

With Old Olive and the Leaf Vein stamp, stamp on Very Vanilla at the top part of the Lilac. Then take the leaves and stamp off once before adding to your leaf vein. Again the two toned effect. Layer this piece on the Bravo Burgundy.

Now grab the main card with the designer paper on it and take the Punched Out Square and Cut in half, this will give you both sides. Layer this one your card centered both ways from the side and top and bottom. Layer the 2 3/4x2 piece with the designer paper over that so that the points on the squares stick out from underneath. Then the piece you just stamped with the Lilac on it layer this over the top of your piece you just put down. I used pop dots for this piece so it stood out more. And that is it your card is done.

I seen this on Paper Pleasings Blog and had to share. What a wonderful idea. I love this tool, my son got it for me for my Birthday last year and I use it all the time. Now I must try this out.

Ok with that said, here is my card. Anyone remember the set Garden Collage? I just love that set so spring time to me. So I pick that set to work with for this sketch.

Rose and Night of Navy Ribbon

First off I stamped my background of the Soft Swirls ( retired ) in Versamark on the Bashful Blue main card.

Cut y our Pixie Pink card stock 5x3 and stamp with versamark. I used a retired stamp set for this too. It has little butterflies and dots on it. Don't remember the name.

Stamped my image of the bird on Whisper White card stock, punched out. Colored in with chalks. Shaded a little darker on the edges with the chalk to make it stand out more.

Punched out another scalloped circle slightly larger in Night of Navy card stock. With my white gel pen I put dots around the edges in each scallop.

Mounted the bird piece to the Night of Navy.

Mount the Pixie Pink onto the Bashful Blue. Add your ribbon. I used two colors and layered them one upon the other. Then mounted the Scalloped pieces to the card.

Stamped my verse "Gentle thoughts of you."

We had such a beautiful day in MN today. We was close to 40 degree's which for this time of year is not normal. But, we enjoyed having it. I made it to the post office to mail out a PIF ( Pay it forward ).

My ears are feeling better today so thought I would stamp tonight. I hope I got it in, in time for it to come to your mail boxes tomorrow.

Make your own Rub-Ons

I have been sick with fluid in my ears and it is tilting my ear drums forward. So have not done much stamping or anything. Was looking through my email though and found this so thought I would share it with everyone. I know I would really love to try this but it will have to be when I feel better. If you try it please put a review in the comments area, I would love to hear how it went for you.


MAKE YOUR OWN RUB-ON

This technique is just too cool! Rub-ons are all the rage these days, but you may find it difficult to locate the perfect theme, color, etc. for your project. Well, now you can custom make your own!
Supplies you will need:
Transparency sheet or a piece of page protector, cut to fit your printer. (Most will be 8.5 x 11)Popsicle stick (or similar object to rub the ink)Computer and Word Processing Program Printer
1) Open your Word Processing Program, and type the words you want to use for your rub-ons. Choose your favorite font, color, size etc. You can even add a graphic if you like!
2) Choose "Print". Click on "properties" and choose the following: "Best Quality" (you want as much ink as possible on the transparency) "Mirror" or "Word Flip" (this will flip your text so that it's backwards.
3) Now print. If you're using a transparency, be sure and print on the slick side, not the rough side. If you're using page protector, either side is fine.
4) After it prints, set it aside to dry for 15 minutes. Don't touch it, it will smudge!
5) Choose the paper/project you want to use. Place the transparency, ink side down on the paper. Using the Popsicle stick, rub firmly across all the letters. Lift it up and voila! Your text is on your project!

Cards I got for Christmas

As promised yesterday here are the homemade cards I got from friends. Everyone did an awesome job and they was displayed proudly with all my cards.





First one is from Bev. I love the colors and of course the angel. Great job Bev and thanks so much for thinking of me through the holidays.

Next card is from Danita, she used a cute retired set and retired wheel. Have both in my collection. On one of the groups I used to belong to I was a night owl and did all the uploading to the group at night cause I couldn't sleep. I got the nick name of Elfy. LOL, so this card bought back some memories. Thanks Danita for thinking of me. Such a bright and cheery card for the winter blues!

Next is from Holly, she made this into a tri-fold card and such a beautiful job she did too. I love the old fashioned sleigh scene on this one. Thanks Holly for thinking of me this Christmas. My parents used to talk of times of taking sleigh rides. I wish I was able to do that.

Next we have Shirley, she did a smaller card but it has all the fun of a larger card. This one is a pop up so you will see both views of this one. Such a cute card and a great idea. Thank You Shirley for thinking of me. Love the pop up of the card and so did the kids.

And lastly but certainly not least is a card from Tracy. Such a pretty card. Love the snowglobe on this card. She did snowflakes on the globe and they just glitter. Very Pretty. Thanks Tracy, looks like a MN winter.

Angels Amoung Us

I just love angels and Holly was kind enough to stamp me some so I could play. Don't have the set but will be watching for it on eBay. Holy Triptych is the name of the set. Such a beautiful set.
Anyway here is the card. I hope you enjoy it. This is also a sketch that Holly sent me so she played a part in this one twice. Thanks Holly!

I used the following materials:

WW, Glorious Green, Handsome Hunter and Basic Black

I used my cuttlebug embossing folder on the Glorious Green, cut angles and added a layer or black and a layer of white. Mounted that to the Handsome Hunter cs.

Then I took my image of the angel and colored her in with chalks done in green tones. Her wings are done with more mustard chalk. Mounted her to basic black and then on to white and added her to the center of the card. I love the effect this card gives.

I will try and share more tomorrow. I am having some problems with my ears and am going in on Friday to have them checked again. So tomorrow if I am up to it I will share some of the homemade Christmas cards I got. Such beauties!
