Catch of the Day

I found this pattern on SCS and it was created by Valita, what an awesome card idea for the man/men in your life that loves to fish. Besides the pattern for this being on SCS she also has it and a sample on her blog. Just click on the highlighted words above and it will take you to them.

This is so fun to create and so different than the normal cards. I really enjoyed making this one and love to do different shaped cards. No stamping on this one at all. Of course when I got all done coloring in my fish. My oldest son tells me that I they are Bass and not Trout so I colored them wrong. Well, Who Knew! LOL, to me one fish is the same as any other. So I have Trout colored Bass fish. I am sure the fish don't mind. LOL

Here is what you need to make this awesome Fishing Basket:

More Mustard, Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery and Gold card stock

Bass Fish Punch (retired SU Punch), Word Punch and Double Rectangle punch

Crop-a-dile

Brad

Choc Chip Ink Pad

Chalks for chalking in your fish

Black marker for making the dot for the eye

Pop dots for back of fish

Hemp for hanging fish from

Mesh Embossing Folder

Directions:

Cut out pattern according to directions on More Mustard card stock. I enlarged mine a little from the pattern so it would fit nicely in a A4 (regular card sized envelope). If you would like to do this also use the Magic Matter Disk Set, I used the largest one.

Once pieces are cut out run though your sizzix or cuttlebug with the embossing folder. With a sponge and Choc. Chip Ink Pad sponge lightly over embossed card stock. Gives it a great two tone effect. Cut a strip approx. 5 1/2 x 1/2" and emboss like you did the main card. Again sponge with Choc. Chip to two tone it. Add your handle to the back of the basket flap.

With word punch and Choc. Chip card stock punch out your leather strap for the basket. With gold card stock cut a 1 x 1 piece and punch with the double rectangle punch. Punch hole through top of this and the bottom middle of the basket flap. Attach with a brad. Attach the flap to the main basket.

Punch out two Fish with your punch. Color in with chalks. Add an eye on each one with the black marker. Pierce a hole through the fish about where the gills would be. Run your hemp though each fish. Add pop dots to the backs of the fish so they stand out from the basket. 3D effect. Tuck under flap of basket as shown on my card.

This turns out so cute and I am sure an man in your life that loves to fish would love getting a card like this.

In Flight--CBC20

This card is quick and easy to make. The dots around everything takes sometime but well worth the affect you get.

This is a challenge card for Chrissy's Blog, she does a Belli challenge weekly, go and give it a try. This week is to use Vellum or Mulberry Paper on your project. I chose to use the Vellum. I embossed my Butterfly on Vellum with black embossing powder and colored in the back with an orange gel pen. You could also use a marker for this. Then I trimmed out the butterfly and used some double sided tape and attached him to my scalloped circle.

Supplies needed:

Whisper White, Basic Black and Only Orange card stock

White Craft Ink Pad

Orange, White and Black Gel Pens ( could also use our SU Markers for this)

Card stock Vellum

Versamark

Scalloped Circle Punch

Corner Rounder Punch

Touch of Nature Stamp set and Friendship Blooms

Directions:

Cut basic card from Whisper White. 4 1/4 x 11 fold in half.

Cut Basic Black at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and stamp images on with Craft white ink. Let dry then add to front of basic card. Add white dots with Gel pen all around the edges.

Cut another piece of black at 4 1/4 x 1 1/4 add white dots with gel pen. Stamp verse on left hand side.

Only Orange cut at 4 1/4 x 1 3/4. With a corner rounder punch, punch along long edge all across. Add dots with black gel pen. Mount black piece to this and mount to card about an inch from the bottom. Add white gel pen dots around top and bottom of this piece.

Punch an orange scalloped circle and add black dots with gel pen to each scallop. Center the Vellum butterfly in the middle with some double sided tape.

For butterfly, stamp on card stock vellum with versamark, add black embossing powder, heat set. Cut around. Add just the double sided tape to the body of the butterfly so you can bend the wings and he looks like he is in flight.

Rub-ons

Apparently I am into birds this weekend. I did these for my small scalloped circles and squares that are die cuts. They are in little tins and hold them really nice and make it for easy storage.

All I did for these was to rub them on with a Popsicle stick and pull off the backing and I have my decorated tins. Turned out pretty cute huh!

Garage Sale Finds

I found the most pretty finds at a garage sale today. I also do tole painting so this was a treat to not paint them myself. And to think they was only a quarter each! Gotta love a deal like that. These are off of some type of farm equipment and was sanded and painted. I love the shape. And she did a wonderful job of painting them.

I also found a Home Interior picture of hummingbirds in flight. Rather large I would say about a 24x12 maybe. I love hummingbirds and to get a Home Interior picture for a dollar can't be beat.

Lilac Planting

We have been so busy planting Lilac bushes. Friday we spent a big part of the day planting 26 or 27 Lilac bushes in our yard. We are trying for privacy and a wind block for winter months. Although we have 44 pine trees in the yard I want something smelling good and that can block and get privacy from. My sister bought me in some bushes from our old property that they bought from us. She even has more so we can do the south part of our land and finish the east side. We got most the east side done with this bunch and a small portion in the front of the yard. It had rained two days in a row before we started planting so the gound was so nice and moist for doing this. I can't wait to get the rest of the property done an them growing big so I can have my privacy in my back yard.

We planted big and small ones, so some is going to take much longer to bush out and be nice. But as you can see we have a good start. I didn't show the long angle of them. I believe we have 15 to 17 along the one side.

Spinning Ornage Slice

I am in a Movement Swap and I love the spinner card so much that is what I decided to make. I used the Tart and Tandy set from SU. I love to play with these spinner cards. LOL, easily amused aren't I? This is just a card front not a full card. They get so bulky if they are full cards. You can always use the back for your signature. Right now it is kind so of plan, but I didn't have a current saying for the swap so I asked a friend to send me some stamped sayings so I can finish the card when they arrive.

Supplies needed:

Only Orange and Glossy White card stock

Only Orange Ink

White Gel Pen

2 Pennies

Pop dots

Sticky strip (red liner tape)

Work window punch

1 1/4" & 1 1/2" circle punch

Easiest was to explain this card is to send you to the SCS site and they have a tutorial on it. Make some up they are fun and fast to do and the kids love them.

Poll for Updates

I just put a poll on the right hand side of my blog for you to vote on how many times a week you would like me to update. I have had a few people unsubscribe from my blog saying I update to much. So figured I would get all of your opinions on what you think on how often I should update.
Also to let you know I have not been stamping this past week. I have had a sleep apnea test done to see if I have any sleep disorders. I do but will find out more results with in the next two weeks. Glad to have that over with.
We have also been busy in the yard getting it cleaned up after the long long winter we had. Finally got some bushes planted. One snowball bush, 2 golden flame spirea's and a red flaming bush. I think they all will be beautiful when in bloom. I also weeded around the ones I had already, which is a couple of bleeding heart bushes, snowball bush, lilac bushes and another one I don't recall the name something with rose in it. And boy does that have some sharp prickles on it. LOL, it is some sort of bush but not a rose bush. We live on 1 1/3 acre of land so lots to mow. We had been working on the rider as it broke down last fall. Thank goodness that is fixed as I hate to push mow that much lawn. All and all it has been a very busy week. Yesterday we also put flowers on 13 graves.

Prayers for all those in the Hugo, MN area with the tornado yesterday. And the surrounding areas that had all the bad storms.

Graduation Cards

I got an order for 10 Graduation cards. These are my starting of them. They didn't scan well, the shading isn't showing that was done on them. Some areas are showing darker than others too, strange. Oh well as long as they look good IRL that is the main thing, right? I had to borrow a set for graduation as I didn't have one although I could of swore I did, thank goodness someone did.

I certainly hope she likes these. If not I have some graduation cards for myself that I can pass out. These are a Gift Card Holder. I am just going to show the outside as the inside is just stamped with graduation hats like the front is. You can get directions for these on Dawn Griffith's site, she has a wonderful tutorial on them. Hence the reason I am making them. So thanks Dawn for the great tutorial!

Blog Candy Winner has come forward

Thanks for getting back to me so fast Miriam. Your goodies will go in the mail hopefully tomorrow. Have to make a run to town anyway.
I am one of those lucky people that still has my Mom and my Dad yet. So I still get more memories to Cherish with them. I always like to have them over on special occasions, like the holidays and parties so that my kids can also have the fun of getting to know them. We also do family parties and holidays on my side that everyone gets together but it is fun to have it just with Mom and Dad to after all the excitement of the others is over. We make them a special meal and enjoy the times, watching movies or whatever. I will miss all that when they are gone.
Hope you enjoy your candy Miriam, I added a little surprise for you in the package.
I will try and get something stamped today and share tonight in between cleaning house. Wish I had a maid and didn't have to do the house work. LOL, but I know we all wish that.

Sorry I am late I should of done this last night but, got so busy I didn't get it done. So tonight is the magic night.
I enjoyed reading every ones memories of times with your Mom's. I have had so many that it is hard to pick just one. We always teased that she lived in a fantasy world as for all the holidays she always went all out and decorated. Christmas we all decorated but Mom always found more things to put out to decorate the house with. I remember many rooms being decorated when I was young. It rubbed off on us girls as we always decorate a bunch to during the holidays.
So I bet your wondering who that winner is! You all have such wonderful memories. I had my son pick a number and he chose 15 so the winner is..................................................

What great blog candy! My mother gave me much love, faith, and a creative spirit. She would paint illustrations of my nursery rhymes, she made rag dolls, clothes pin dolls, and stuffed animals (always without a pattern). She painted images of the family on our picture window each Christmas and made snow sculptures of bears, elephants and many other animals. She decorated cakes for the family with a paint brush and cut marshmallows and gum drops. She handpainted ties for the men in the family. She could create anything and continued making toys for my children until it became difficult for her to see. She was a crafter before it became "popular" and contributed greatly to my interst in all artistic things.
So congrats to Miriam, please send me your address so I can get your prizes out to you.
